Hi Travel Writers,


I'm excited to get to know about your and your past and future travels!  I'll start out by introducing myself and you guys should introduce yourselves on the blog too:


I love to learn languages and to travel and to combine the two when possible.  For example, spring semester I took an Italian course and in the summer I spent two weeks in Sicily. Then I wrote a travel essay about how the course did and did not prepare me for the travel experience.  I have published a lot of travel essays about my experiences in Latin America.


I've been a rhetoric professor and writing center director for 28 years.  I've got a BA in Spanish, an MA in Linguistics-TESOL, and a PhD in English: Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy.


In my free time, I like to swim and hang out with my granddaughters.  The older one (almost 8) and I are currently reading the Babysitting Club series together.

    Hi my name is Abby Hanneman and I'm from Omaha, Nebraska. I am a double major in business and psychology on a pre-law track. I love to be outdoors, read, swim, and traveling. This summer I went to Santa Barbara with my friend for a beach trip. We did a lot of exploring the city and hanging out at the beach! It was a really fun experience!

Final essay proposal

I think I am going to elaborate on the essay I wrote about my family going to Glacier National Park. The characters will be my mom, step dad, sisters and then a couple we met at one of our campsites that let us use their telescopes. Its going to be about all the troubles we had through out the trip, like the RV breaking, my sister and I getting sick and a thunderstorm that ruined our hike. I haven’t been there in several years. Not since my grandmother died and my granddad moved into an apartment. I remember driving up and seeing them waiting for us through the glass door, big smiles on their faces. They would come out and give us warm, welcoming hugs, a comfort after a long day on the road. Traveling to their house was always worth it, no matter how far away we lived.              My best memories from their house were at Christmastime. Final Essay Proposal

For my final travel essay I would like to continue writing about the trip I took to New York City (it was mentioned in my bad trip essay). I want to share the good parts of the trip, the experiences I had and the places I saw. I loved that trip and loved New York and I would like to further explain that in my essay. Characters in the essay would include myself, my mom, and a few of my friends that came on the trip. We all bonded together over the trip and we still have inside jokes from it to this day. The theme would be about doing things that are unexpected and ending up loving it. The best parts of that trip weren't at the big tourist destinations that we visited, it was the small places that we found and the memories we made there.
