"Ascension in the Moonlight" Post

The theme Winchester conveys in his essay "Ascension in the Moonlight" is live in the moment and don't take experiences for granted because you could miss the beauty of their entirety. My evidence for this theme is when Winchester states all the things he experienced within his trip to Ascension Island and encompasses it as "-perhaps the greatest wealth of experience that any one individual could ever know in one moment" (Winchester 270). A piece of language that I found effective was Winchester’s description of the island as "some anteroom to heaven" (Winchester 268) because he expresses the island’s beauty and magic in this simple phrase. Another effective use of language is the first quote that I listed above because when I read it, I too am able to experience the moment in which he fully appreciated the beauty and wonder of the moment he had just experienced.
