"Bicycle Love" response

The theme of Goodspeed's essay, "Bicycle Love" is: a pilgrimage alone can create new beginnings from hard endings. When Goodspeed made major life changes, she decided to take a trip to France. This voyage gave her a fresh perspective on life. Green Knees got a divorce and was on a pilgrimage hike where she took time to figure out what lied ahead for her life. One use of effective language was when she says, "When an afternoon rainstorm rolled through, I stopped riding and started to cry,"(Goodspeed 142). This was a well worded visual of one type of rainstorm to a metaphorical rainstorm which shows the emotions that happens on a life changing journey. Another example of effective language is when she says, "I wasn't afraid anymore,"(Goodspeed 147). It felt like a revelation as the sentence was being read, putting the reader right there by her side.

Final essay proposal

I think I am going to elaborate on the essay I wrote about my family going to Glacier National Park. The characters will be my mom, step dad, sisters and then a couple we met at one of our campsites that let us use their telescopes. I haven’t been there in several years. Not since my grandmother died and my granddad moved into an apartment. I remember driving up and seeing them waiting for us through the glass door, big smiles on their faces. They would come out and give us warm, welcoming hugs, a comfort after a long day on the road. Final Essay Proposal

For my final travel essay I would like to continue writing about the trip I took to New York City (it was mentioned in my bad trip essay). I want to share the good parts of the trip, the experiences I had and the places I saw. I loved that trip and loved New York and I would like to further explain that in my essay. Characters in the essay would include myself, my mom, and a few of my friends that came on the trip. We all bonded together over the trip and we still have inside jokes from it to this day. The theme would be about doing things that are unexpected and ending up loving it. The best parts of that trip weren't at the big tourist destinations that we visited, it was the small places that we found and the memories we made there.
