"Bicycle Love" Theme

Throughout the story "Bicycle Love" the theme of perseverance is very evident. Goodspeed shows this through explaining her struggles then how she overcame them. She explain how when it started raining she considered giving up and just catching a train to England. However, she persevered and kept going on her bike. She also persevered through a person giving her wrong directions and eventually made it to the town where her friends live. When she talk about how she "hit stride" it stuck out because it showed that even though she was struggling there were positives and she overcame them. Another part that stuck out was when she talked about when she "fought back tears". This helped me empathize with her and understand how stressed and tired she was feeling. She used strong words to show the struggle and how she persevered throughout the process.
