"White Rabbit" Response
Holly Keith's theme of "White Rabbit" was that the adventure and rewards were in the struggles, challenges, and feelings in the journey to a destination. The rewards were not even in the completion of a journey in and of itself, but simply what that journey does to you as a person, and how it makes you feel. I believe this was her theme because in the essay she states "The hiking is the easy part. And the climb is a reward, which varies. The reward can be the silence," and "but it doesn't happen unless your mind takes your body there first." Some of her language that she used that was most effective, was her repetition of "just in case." This made her appear to be very cautious and well prepared for anything on her journey. Another use of language was her short sentences, she kept her thoughts brief and to the point in many parts of the text, not over explaining and making the simple lines stand out to the reader.
