"Why We Travel" response

One of the reasons that resonated with my most was that "we travel to open our hearts, and eyes and learn more about the world than one newspapers will accommodate". This reason resonated with me because when I traveled to foreign countries like Mexico and the Dominican Republic I saw all the poverty that I didn't even know existed. I always figured it was beaches and resorts but when you leave the resorts it opens your eyes to what life is truly like there and the sad reality that it is often poverty and homelessness. The other reason that resonated with me was it "shows us all the parts of ourselves that might otherwise grow rusty". I liked this reason because when I travel I'm very relaxed and go with the flow but when I'm home I'm very organized and scheduled so it keeps my spontaneous side alive.

I think I am going to elaborate on the essay I wrote about my family going to Glacier National Park. The characters will be my mom, step dad, sisters and then a couple we met at one of our campsites that let us use their telescopes. Final Essay Proposal

For my final travel essay I would like to continue writing about the trip I took to New York City (it was mentioned in my bad trip essay). I want to share the good parts of the trip, the experiences I had and the places I saw. I loved that trip and loved New York and I would like to further explain that in my essay. Characters in the essay would include myself, my mom, and a few of my friends that came on the trip. We all bonded together over the trip and we still have inside jokes from it to this day. The theme would be about doing things that are unexpected and ending up loving it. The best parts of that trip weren't at the big tourist destinations that we visited, it was the small places that we found and the memories we made there.
